Portrait of Cove Marquis-Bortoli

Senior full-stack blockchain developer

Cove Marquis-Bortoli

I build secure product platforms and developer tooling across smart contracts, backend systems, and modern frontend applications. Most recently, I worked on blockchain tooling and product engineering at OpenZeppelin.

My Peculiarities

Team
Focused

The core of every project is the team that is responsible for it. As a lead developer and a scrum master, I have learned to orient individuals and spread knowledge to empower the team and strengthen its effectiveness supporting the project's goals for continuous improvement.

svg polyvalent

Polyvalent
Abilities

Different experiences and learnings helped me acquire multiple skills from back-end to front-end or DevOps. Allowing me to take charge of polyvalent missions, with a holistic point of view. I can prioritize and optimise work across different scopes of a project and deliver within time constraints.

svg learning

Always
Learning

There is always something new to learn, and it motivates me. I developed a great capacity for adaptation and a passion for discovering new topics in various domains. Spreading this learning with others on the way. I like to research and propose new and innovative solutions to challenging problems.

Some Of My Projects

Featured work

During my personal and professional path I encounter different challenges. Learning new skills led me to turn them into opportunities and build real projects. Here are some of my recent work across blockchain tooling, product engineering, and developer experience sorted with most recent first:

Building the tooling layer for a Sui marketplace dApp:
At OpenZeppelin, I built a full-stack marketplace example and the surrounding tooling layer to make Move contract development easier across environments.
The work covered contract publishing, deployment artifacts, network-aware configuration, transaction helpers, and an integration test harness that could deploy contracts, seed state, and validate end-to-end flows.
The result was a stronger developer experience and a more repeatable pipeline for building, testing, and operating Sui applications with Move smart contracts.

Securing smart contract operations at scale:
I worked on OpenZeppelin Defender, a platform used by teams to deploy, monitor, and operate smart contracts in production with stronger operational safety.
I contributed across the full stack, from blockchain integration flows to backend services and product-facing UI.
To improvecontract administration, automated operations and real-time monitoring so teams could react quickly to on-chain events and reduce manual intervention.contract administration, automation, monitoring, and workflows that help teams react to on-chain activity with less manual intervention. I also contributed to the microservice architecture running on AWS and to features built around triggers, automation bots, and secure operational workflows.

A teaching dApp for DeFi and DAO concepts:
I built Astro Light as a hands-on way to teach blockchain fundamentals beyond slide decks and theory.
The project combined a small DeFi and DAO experience on Ethereum testnet: users could buy a token, swap, stake, and participate in a simple governance flow that updated a UI element through on-chain decisions.
It turned abstract concepts like tokens, staking, governance, and smart contracts into something people could actually use and understand.

Modernizing the core of an e-commerce platform:
At Aldo, I joined the team during the rebuild of the order management system, one of the most critical systems in the commerce stack.
The new platform was built around an event-driven microservice architecture using EventBridge and Lambda functions, with the OMS acting as the coordination layer between multiple interconnected services.
Alongside product work, I created a CLI and IDE extension to streamline developer workflows and reduce the need to jump into the AWS console for common operational tasks.
